In this 5-day workshop we will cover the basics of hand-weaving on a variety of 4-shaft looms. From designing and making your own warp to setting up a loom, this workshop will provide you with everything you need to know to start your first project on a loom.
On the first three days, you will learn how to plan a project, make a warp on a warping wheel, and thread a loom according to a pattern draft. Once the loom is ready to weave, we will move on to the second half of the workshop, where you will learn how to weave basic weave structures, such as plain weave, twill variations and basket weave.
At the end of the workshop, you will take home your set of handwoven pattern samples (4–8 pieces) as well as a step-by-step workbook on how to warp and set up a loom. This workshop is designed for those who would like to gain a deeper understanding of the craft. While we recommend some weaving experience, you are very welcome to join as a beginner.
