Textile Art | Woven Research
Studio Jumi is a Berlin-based artist duo founded by Julia Buntzel and Miriam Rose Gronwald. Their joint work focuses on the diverse approaches to hand-weaving, combining technical and historical knowledge with the artistic process.
Woven Artworks
Our work references both the historic and modern constructs of weaving, through dialogues between traditional technique and the process of contemporary visual art making. By working with unconventional materials and breaking away from classical form and function, we create large scale, hand-woven works of art that challenge the traditional notion of a textile.

Commissions
As an artist duo, we are deeply committed to the principle of weaving as a collaborative endeavor. From technical expertise to artistic sensibility, we perceive our work as a tool for communication and innovation. Whether in the form of fine art, architecture, interior design, or historical research, our woven textiles achieve a profound symbiosis across various disciplines.
Founded in 2022, Studio Jumi is a Berlin-based artist duo working at the interface of art, craft, and design.
Who we are
With Studio Jumi, we aim to create a place in Berlin that brings together knowledge, creativity, and innovation in contemporary hand weaving.
The Weaving Studio
Based on the philosophy of the early years of the Bauhaus School, we seek to re-establish the relationship between art and craft by bridging the gap between artisan mastery and contemporary art making. In addition to our own work as artists, we engage in collaborations with designers, architects, and visual artists by providing both our skills and our technical knowledge.
Weaving Classes
We offer monthly weaving classes in our studio in Berlin. From one-day introductory classes to five-day weaving intensives, our art-based, practice-led workshops are designed for everyone who would like to learn more about the technique of weaving and its creative potential in textile art. If you’re an experienced weaver, join us in the studio and weave your own project on one of our looms.
